Here is a collection of some adventures around WA state over the past few months.
Hidden Lake, North CascadesA “first come first serve” cabin at the top of a ridge over-looking Hidden Lake. Next time….Jose laying claim to the lands.Sunset. My sense of scale was totally thrown off by the magnitude of the landscape. Check out the red tent near the bottom of the slope for scale.Collecting water from the last little piece of snowmelt.Opposite the lake, from our campsite. As geotechnical engineers, we decided the risk of getting squashed by a rockfall was “acceptable”.Facing the picture below. In the Cascade mountains. Not pictured: the natural water slide into the pool.Mordor with goats. (Mt. Elinor, Olympics)Taken with my iPhone, no editing whatsoever. Classic PNW forest views in the Olympic mountains. In front of the St. Helens lahar zone.A gravity defying, subterranean mushroom in the Ape Caves lava tubes.First swim of the year in Baker Lake. Maybe a little early..Campsite at Baker Lake.Eastern WA blew me away. This is Grand Coulee, one of many coulees formed as massive floods tore through the landscape intermittently at the end of the last ice age.Early morning at Port Angeles.
Thanks for the tour Per – it was fun! No doubt it’s the only way I will ever get to see these magnificent places. Awe inspiring, WOW!
